Tire Inflation. Under-inflated tires can lead to increased fuel consumption by as much as 10 percent. Also, studies indicate that under-inflated tires can create safety hazards which result in accidents. Check tire inflation once a month.
In hot weather, flush dirt, bugs and leaves from front of radiator with a brush and garden hose which helps to avoid cooling system problems.
Never wax or wash a car in direct sunlight. If your car's metal temperature is too hot, the chemicals in the wax can permanently damage your car's finish.
When washing your vehicle by hand, take the time to run your wash mitt along the inside bottom edge of the doors, lift gate, hood and trunk. These areas trap dirt and moisture causing premature rusting.
Wash off dirt prior to washing a car. Any dirt that is rubbed into the surface can cause scratches. Do not "dry wipe" the vehicle,this may causing scratching. Allow water to sheet off the car by taking the nozzle off the hose when rinsing.
Avoid extreme heat and cold-keep the car parked in the shade or a garage.
Don't drive on gravel roads. Chipping the finish can easily occur within the first 30 days.
Avoid parking under trees which may drop sap.
Do not spill gasoline, oil, antifreeze, transmission fluids or windshield solvent on the new finish. If you do, immediately rinse off-do not wipe.
Rinse off as much soil as possible before washing. Allow water to sheet off the car by taking the nozzle of the hose when rinsing.
