The Ontario Motor Vehicle Dealers Act is administered by a self-managed, not-for-profit organization called The Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC). The Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations retains responsibility for this legislation.
Consumers who believe they have been unfairly treated by a motor vehicle dealer should call OMVIC. If your complaint pertains to a recently-purchased new car with a major mechanical problem, you may be referred to a special arbitration program called The Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan (CAMVAP). You can call CAMVAP directly at (416) 921-2686 in Toronto or toll free at 1-800-207-0685.
