If you're planning a trip, take a shovel, a bag of road salt, an extra bottle of antifreeze windshield washer fluid and jumper cables. It's also a good idea to carry a first aid kit, extra outerwear, work gloves, boots, a blanket, a few survival candles, matches and food.
